  1. In a cooker,add amla put 1 cup of water add 1tsp of turmeric powder and salt.Cook for 3 whistles..
  2. Once cooked,remove the seeds of the Amla and crush them with back of the spoon.Add turmeric powder,red chilli powder, pepper powder,coriander powder, garam masala,salt and sugar and keep it ready..
  3. In a pan,add oil,mustard seeds,jeera,red chillies and curry leaves,after that add Amla mixture with little water.Cook until the mixture thickens.It stays good for one week in refrigerator..

This recipe is from my mum who makes it often during karthika masam. Indian gooseberry is called as Amla in Hindi, nellikai in tamil and kannada and usirikaya in Telugu.
